The EBA Verification Program aims to provide an objective, fair, consistent, evidence-based, timely, up-to-date, helpful, and efficient process. Burn centre verification aims to ensure quality by promoting patient safety, cost containment, regional education and outreach, injury prevention, innovation, research, and advocacy.
The burn centre verification process integrates quality assurance principles and continuous improvement. It provides transparency while maintaining confidentiality.
In order to apply for Burn Centre Verification, you need to fill out the application form.

About Verification

Verification application
To begin the process to become a verified burn center, or to start your re-verification process, complete the application form (button below).

Self-Assessment form
Once the EBA Verification Committee approves your application, you will receive the Self-Assessment form. This form must be completed and returned to the EBA Society secretariat within one month. The form will be reviewed by the Verification Committee. Once approved by the committee, the reviewers will be selected, and the site visit will be scheduled.

Visit Burn Centre
The burn centre is responsible for arranging the reviewers’ airport pickup and hotel accommodations.
The formal visit and evaluation take place the next morning and include an introductory meeting, a tour of the burn centre, and an exit interview, usually ending by 1:00 p.m.
Optional: the burn centre should schedule an informal dinner the night before the visit, attended by the burn centre’s directly responsible(s), the Nurse Manager(s), and the administrator. Here, the reviewers will be able to discuss questions they had with burn centre personnel in an informal environment.

Post Visit
Site reviewers prepare the site visit report and forward it to the EBA Society secretariat where it is sent to the Verification Committee for comments/approval. If issues with the verification need to be addressed, or if a focused review needs to be scheduled, that information will be outlined in the letter.
The EBA financial department will send the hospital the invoice for the fee payment of 4.000 EUR, and any additional costs* must be paid by the hospital within one month.
*The burn centre institution is responsible for additional costs associated with the visit—this includes travel expenses, hotel nights, and airport transfers.

Certificate and Verification report
After payment of the invoice and approval of the report, the burn centre is notified of the verification. The EBA Society secretariat will send the report and certificate (award effect for 5 years). The entire verification process takes about three to six months.
