American Burn Associaton (ABA)
The American Burn Association and its members dedicate their efforts and resources to promoting and supporting burn-related research, education, care, rehabilitation, and prevention. The ABA has more than 3,500 members in the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia, and Latin America. Members include physicians, nurses, occupational and physical therapists, researchers, social workers, firefighters, and hospitals with burn centers. Our multidisciplinary membership enhances our ability to work toward common goals with other organizations on educational/prevention programs.
Belgian Burns Association
De geschiedenis van de Belgische BrandwondenStichting begint officieel in 1985. Toen bundelde de Lions Club Bruxelles Royal een aantal initiatieven die ze al vanaf het begin van de jaren '80 voerde in de vzw Hulpfonds voor Zwaar Verbranden. Het ging meer bepaald om het opvolgen van dossiers bij het RIZIV voor het bekomen van betere terugbetalingstarieven voor brandwondenpatiënten.

The membership of this non-profit making organisation is made up of those people interested in taking forward the Aims of the Association which are ; burn prevention, and to propagate knowledge on the best treatment and rehabilitation following a burn injury.

Dutch Burns Foundation
Op 16 juli 1971 werd de Nederlandse Brandwonden Stichting opgericht. De initiatiefnemers waren prof.dr. R.P. Hermans en prof.dr. A.J.C. Huffstadt. De brandwonden Stichting had toen als doelstelling: 'het ondersteunen van wetenschappelijk onderzoek inzake de behandeling van brandwonden'.
European Tissue Repair Society (ETRS)
The European Tissue Repair Society, a non-profit making organisation founded in 1988, aims to promote knowledge and interchange between scientists, healthcare professionals, industry and other individuals that have an interest in tissue repair of all organs. The Society has an annual meeting and a number of focus meetings each year concentrating on different aspects of tissue repair, ranging from basic science to clinical aspects of healing.
International Society for Burn Injuries (ISBI)
The ISBI was founded in the city of Edinburgh, Scotland in 1965. Its first Secretary, General Mr. A. B. Wallace, said in 1965, "The delegates of the Edinburgh Congress aim to set up a permanent organization in the hope of reducing the incidence of this major scourge, as well as improving patient care, especially in developing countries."
Nederlandse Vereniging voor Brandwondenzorg (Dutch Burn Care Society)
De Nederlandse Vereniging voor Brandwondenzorg is een multidisciplinaire vereniging van medici, paramedici en verpleegkundigen uit Nederland en België. De vereniging heeft als doel het contact te bevorderen van hen die zijn betrokken bij de bestudering en behandeling van patienten met brandwonden door middel van:-het organiseren van vergaderingen;
-publicaties;
-het onderhouden van contacten met verwante verenigingen in binnen- en buitenland. De vereniging organiseert tweemaal per jaar een wetenschappelijke vergadering die bestemd is voor een ieder die geïnteresseerd en/of betrokken is bij de zorg voor patiënten met brandwonden.

Tissue Viability Nurses Association
The TVNA is a relatively new organisation in the UK that was set up to provide UK tissue viability nurses with professional and political representation. TVNA members and non-members have access to news, events, case studies and articles as well as a discussion forum and useful links to other web resources.
The TVNA is the only UK association within wound care that is exclusive to nurses. Full membership is reserved for registered nurses in post whose primary responsibility is the provision of tissue viability services or who have the lead responsibility for tissue viability issues within a Trust or other care giving organization. Associate membership is open to any registered nurse with a specialist interest in tissue viability.
World Health Organization (WHO)
The World Health Organization, the United Nations specialized agency for health, was established on 7 April 1948. WHO's objective, as set out in its Constitution, is the attainment by all peoples of the highest possible level of health. Health is defined in WHO's Constitution as a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.
