The first Nordic Burn Meeting was held in Bergen in 1985 and was organized by enthusiasts at the then recently opened Burn Centre at Haukeland University Hospital. Bergen also hosted the Nordic Burn Meetings in 1990 and 2000.

Following subsequent Nordic Burn Meetings in Linköping, Copenhagen, Kuopio, and Uppsala (2008) we were again trusted to organize in April 2010 the 12th in this series of biannual gatherings of Nordic burn care providers. Since 2002 the language of the Nordic burn meetings has been English.

By nature, burn care requires a multidisciplinary team approach. This assures a varied and interesting programme at the Nordic Burn Meetings, with a mixture of invited speakers, oral presentations, posters, and symposia. Hence, the Nordic Burn Meetings with their social interactions are an important arena for discussion and development.

We hope you will mark you calendars today for what we are convinced will be an informative meeting.
